Armenia

Armenia is the capital city of the Quindío Departmetn and one of the main cities of the Coffe Region. It has become a pass through destination to some of the most important touristic sites of Colombia.

This small city, which was severely affected by an earthquake in 1999, enjoys nowadays of one of the highest quality of life index in the country. It is known for having beautiful parks and squares where you will surely find many historic and religious attractions.

Closet o Armenia you will find amazing places like Salento, the Cocora Valley or the Coffee Park.

Cuyabras Celebration
During the first two weeks of October the Cuyabra Celebration takes place in Armenia, in relation to the city’s foundation on October 14th. They organized parades, concerts, gastronomic fairs, cultural and artistic events and the architecture biennial.

Armenia Sound Fest
In December of 2012 the first Armenia Sound Fest was launched. This international event aims to gather young population from the Coffee Region to enjoy two days of life music. It also offers parallel academic activities and conferences.

Walk around the city
Armenia has few attractions to offer but, as in every other city of Colombia, walking around the center and visiting its parks and squares is the main activity and you will always find something surprising.

Parque de la Vida (Park of Life)
The Parque de la Vida was a gift from the Coffee Union to the city and its located in a 8,2ha area of nature, small woods, lakes, paths, sports area and small opened cabins. It’s a beautiful place to relax in the afternoon while enjoying the great weather of the city.

Parque Fundadores (Founders Park)
This historic place is very important for the people of Armenia. It’s surrounded by big trees and several monuments that will give an idea of the city history.
 
Museo del Oro Quimbaya (Quimbaya Gold Museum)
As in many parts of Colombia, Armenia also has an amazing Gold Museum that is part of the Republic Bank Museums Network. You will not get tired of seeing the master pieces of the indigenous communities that used to live in this area.
