La Nube Posada
For a more expensive but amazing experiencie, La Nube Posada is the ideal place to spend a night if you are looking for some privacy and romance. Prices start at 240.000 pesos por a double room (in low season) and it includes breakfast and taxes. They also offer great tours around the area.

In Barichara you will not find a wide range of restaurants and they are usually not cheap, but if you are the sweet tooth kind, you have come to paradise. Surrounding the main square there are several candy stores where you can taste the traditional and delicious 'arequipe', made of milk and sugar or panela, and combined with all type of ingredients like coconut, coffe, sesame, peanuts...

For a proper meal, we recommend you to visit one of this options, depending on your tastes and budget.

Pork with mashed 'criollas' potatoes in La PuertaLa Puerta
The best thing about this restaurant, besides its delicious and varied menu, is that they work with organic local products. It can be a little expensive for a backpacker, but eating here will assure you a healthy meal and the satisfaction of alleviating some of that carbon footprint.
Prices: from 20.000 to 30.000 pesos per person.

Mandala
Another healthy but more affordable option is Mandala, a small and peaceful vegetarian restaurant where you can find salads, hamburguers, pastas, sandwiches and delicious fruit juices. They also have a little store with hand crafts and krishna's stuff, home made bread and deserts to go.

Algarabia Restaurant BaricharaAlgarabia
So much colonial architecture might get you in the mood for some spanish cuisine so try Algarabia. This is probably the most expensive restaurant in Barichara but its delicious menu and a great environment defintly make it up for it. Enjoy a classic paella, Serrano ham, manchego cheese, seafood, salads... They also offer a lunch menu during high season.
Prices: from 35.000 to 45.000 pesos per person with a glass of wine.

GETTING THERE

From San Gil go to 'El Terminalito', located two blocks away from the Market Plaza. This is a small local buses terminal where you can find a bus leaving to Barichara every half hour, from 8am to 5pm. The bus costs 3,800 Pesos.

=> Allow yourself the pleasure of enjoying a meal in one of this delicious restaurants. At the end they are not that expensive and if you are on a budget, you can always go back to a more restrictive diet later when you're back to larger cities.
