A nice finca for the weekend?
Not that I’m complaining, of course. The great thing about puentes (the word for bank holidays) when you live in Bogotá is that you can head out of town on Friday night to Tierra Caliente and enjoy a finca for a few days. Allow me to elaborate. Tierra Caliente is the region that surrounds Bogotá, known as such because it is at a lower altitude than Bogotá, and therefore much hotter (Tierra Caliente translates to Hot Land). It’s pretty incredible...

El Chorro, La Candelaria
El Chorro, La Candelaria La Candelaria is one of Bogota’s most iconic areas; a view into the humble beginnings of a city that now boasts more than 8 million inhabitants and is one of the 5 biggest cities in Latin America. That said, in many South American destinations there are precious few places to sink into a cold one, and that can get frustrating. Not so in Bogota. I attribute the popularity...

The Crying Rocks
The Crying Rocks We can talk all day about how all of Colombia is off-the-beaten track, or wax lyrical about Ciudad Perdida, Tayrona National Park and San Gil, but the truth is that some people only want really, really off-the-beaten track places. We`re talking the kind that don’t exist in your dog-eared guidebook. The kind that, no matter how much you sift through travel forums, you still won’t find information about. Until now. There are plenty of off-the-beaten track destinations in...
