Cartagena Attractions and Visits

The best thing to do in Cartagena is to visit El Centro Historico and stroll along the walls. As you do so, you will find many attractions like the Plaza Santo Domingo, the Cathedral de San Pedro Claver, the Teatro Heredia, the Plaza Bolivar, the Palacio de la Inquisicion and the Plaza San Diego, home to one of the most stunning hotels in Colombia, the Sofitel Santa Clara. During your visit, watch out for Mapale dancers near Tore del Reloj or Plaza Santo Domingo.

At night, go for a romantic ride using one of the horse-drawn carriages.

Right outside the walls in El Cabrero neighboorhoo, visit Casa Nunez and church nearby, then head towards the walls to Las Bovedas where you can start shopping and find something to bring back home.

Get a map at one of the Tourist booths and you can do most of the sites in one big day. To avoid exhaustion from walking or emotions, maybe you should split the visits in 2/3 days mixing the visits with some time on the Cartagena's beaches.

Cartagena also boasts great museums : Museo del Oro y Archeologia (not need if you are going to see the Bogota Gold Museum), the Naval Museum and the Cartagena Modern Art Museum or Museo de Arte Moderno.

Venturing slightly outside the city, visit the Convento de la Popa and the Fort San Felipe de Barajas.

For something different, almost off the beaten tracks, visit the Casa Roman or one Cartagena Yacht's Clubs
