The town itself is typical of the Boyaca region of Colombia - a charming, picture-perfect colonial town laden with white-washed walls, cobblestone paths and laid-back charm. Of particular note in the town is the main cathedral, named the Catedral de Paipa, which looms large over the pretty main plaza.
The hot springs are roughly 5 hectares in size, and contain myriad private and public pools, as well as bars, tiendas and cafes. Owing to the pleasant climate of the area, they’re a great way to escape the pressures of city life and spend a day relaxing with little to worry about apart from where your next beer is going to come from.
Iguaque National Park is a large park located near to Paipa, and is one of the treasures of Colombia. Not only does it boast unforgettable views from the heights of its peaks, it is also home to a dizzying array of wildlife, including many plants and birds native to Colombia. For nature enthusiasts it’s a must, but the casual hiker will undoubtedly find the park’s vistas enough to warrant a visit too.
A few recommendations and tips :
=> We recommend taking a jacket as it can get quite nippy...
