Mompox's charm really doesn't lie in what there is to do, but what there isn't to do, and relaxing with the locals should be top of your agenda.
An interesting place to spend the afternoon reading or admiring the amazing variety of birds is the Cemetery Park. There you will see and hear the singing of pijúas (a kind of sparrow hawk), woodpeckers and other birds that cohabit in the trees and palms.
Another recommended places is the Plaza de la Concepción, where a couple of coffee shops and restaurants have opened lately. There you will fin the old 'chalupa' station (a traditional type of boat), it's also a good place for beers in the evening.
Museo Cultural (Cll 2 # 14) features a small collection of religious artifacts and is based in the building Simon Bolivar once stayed at.
