ACCOMODATION, HOTELS AND HOSTELS

Accomodation in San AndresSan Andres is heavily populated with hotels, especially in the north of the island. There is a wide range to suit all budgets – if you´re able to get a Colombian to book for you there is a chance you will get a cheaper rate than what foreigners are charged.

As you head South the island gets quieter, so think about whether you want to be in the heart of the action or not when choosing somewhere to stay.

EATING AND RESTAURANTS

The food on the island is most based around fresh fish and vegetables with plenty of coconut thrown into rice and sauces. "Almuerzos" tend to cost around 12,000 Pesos.

For something a bit different there is a really nice French restaurant called La Regatta.

NIGHTLIFE, BARS AND CLUBS

Coco Loco on Johnny KayMost of the nightlife is centered around the North of San Andres and a couple of the larger hotels there have their own clubs. Expect to hear Reggae music played everywhere, adding to the Jamaican feel of the island. Go to the eastern end of Avenida Colombia where it's the most aninated.

The biggest disco in town which can accomodate up to 700 revellers with the usual crossover mix of salsa, reggaeton and electro.
Cover is 10,000 Pesos.

=> You can also make the most of the duty free shops and buy your own alcohol there to save some cash!

GETTING THERE

There are various flights to San Andres from mainland Colombia – LAN and Avianca both offer flights from Bogota and Cartagena.

=> The airport is right in the center of San Andres and you can just walk to the town center in 5 or 10 minutes rather than pay the standard taxi fare for a 2min ride.
