Hike from Barichara to Guane : Walk on Simon Bolivar's steps

If you are not the adventure sports type or just need a bit of a rest between 2 days of extreme sensations, a very cool thing to do is to go for the 2 hour walk between the beautiful villages of Barichara and Guane taking the "El Camino Real" path that Simon Bolivar's took 2 centuries ago to deliver the country.

The King's Walk (Camino Real) Between Barichara to Guane

The path was build by the indigenous Guane (although rebuilt many times since). It is a beautiful paved road that will take you through the canyon and the valley. It was declared national monument in 1988.

A Cardinal Bird en Route to GuaneYou will walk through breathtaking landscape with spectacular flora and numerous animals. The amount of bird and butterflies is particularly amazing.

=> Try to go there early to see the maximum of wildlife and avoid to wait in Guane for a bus back to Barichara. Our suggestion is for you to start the walk as early as possible from Barichara, and then get back for lunch and visit Barichara in the afternoon.

Did you know?

When you book an activity from an hostel (rafting, paragliding...) they will take a commission of 10 to 20%, so you'd better book it directly with the tour operators!
