Cine Colombia, Bogotá

Bogotá, as every other big capital in the world, has a very diverse offer for cinema goers. Expect to find big cinema chains playing the latest Hollywood premieres but also smaller and independent cinemas showing European, Colombian or Latin American cinema.

Cine Colombia is the biggest multiplex cinema chain in Colombia with places all over Bogotá. It’s a great option if you’re looking for variety, given that they play all the commercial movies, but also independent and Colombian films. Cinemark is also well known but has only four theaters in the city, all of them located in the north. They also play a good selection of Colombian movies.

=> If you’re planning to go on a weekend, prices will be higher and you have to go at least half an hour earlier to get good tickets. Most cinemas have the option to shop online but it doesn’t work very well, especially if you don't have a local debit or credit card.

Inside Cinema Paraíso, Bogotá

If you’re looking for alternative experiences, something closer to independent movies and international film festivals, there are three main options in Bogotá.

Cinema Paraíso is an amazing place. They’re located in Usaquén and have a concept of cinema and coffee shop, so when you arrive you will be handed a menu of hot beverages, cocktails and snacks, to enjoy during your movie. The place is cozy, the seats are very comfortable and you have individual tables for drinks and food.

Located in the center, Cinemateca Distrital is also a very interesting place. It was one of the first theaters in the city and still plays both classic and contemporary movies. Every week they have a special theme or country and many times the entrance is free.

Film Festival in the CinematecaCinemanía offers a good selection of international and independents movies, in a great environment. Close to the ‘Parque de la 93’, they have four small and comfortable rooms.

=> In Colombia, all movies are played in the original language with Spanish subtitles.
