Located near Pasto, La Laguna de la Cocha is the second biggest body of water in Colombia, after La Tota Lagoon in Boyacá. At 2.800m, the lagoon includes two islands. The main one and the most interesting is Corota Island, home to an amazing diversity of fauna and flora, many of them endemic to the region. La Corota is the smallest protected area in Colombia with only 2ha, there is also a pretty little chapel called La Virgen de Lourdes.

The trip from Pasto to El Encano, the town where you can take the boat, lasts around 40 minutes for 4.000 pesos per person.

From El Encano, take a boat to Corota (25,000 COP), so try to split the cost between people. Once in Corota you will have to pay 1,000 COP per person for the entrance, then enjoy the view and the bio diversity of the lowest páramo in the world.
