Villavicencio is located about 2-4 hours south of Bogotá, and is the gateway to the spectacular, awe-inspiring plains of Los Llanos. Surrounding by an amazing mountain scenery, the city is usually hot but cools down at night when the city’s infamous clubs begin to heat up.
Colloquially known as Villavo, the city is the capital of the Meta department. Though not the most beautiful city in Colombia, it benefits from a great nightlife and the opportunity to explore Los Llanos nearby.
The most famous of all the clubs in Villavicencio is called Capachos, and is one of the biggest in Colombia. For a great weekend, it’s advisable to head to Los Llanos to relax, and take your party to Villavicencio’s rumba capital.

Make sure you head to Parque de Los Fundadores to enjoy some peace and quiet in the city; it’s a great example of the green spaces that Villavicencio is famous for.
Bioparque Los Ocarros is a zoo found 3km north of the city, where you can find plenty of nature, including crocodiles.
Los Llanos is a spectacular area that should be explored should you venture to Villavicencio. The area is home to more than 100 species of Colombian wildlife and, though some areas are out of bounds for tourists, it is still possible to rent fincas, horseride and explore in a large part of the area.
